emodel.com, Options Talent Group
To Whom It May Concern:
Have there been any successes with them at least? I
signed up, not thinking... so am I screwed?
V.D.
It depends how you define success. emodel used to implicitly
define success as a call back. Because they used to quote
an unsubstantiated number in the context of advertising
and marketing. They said: '86% of members get call backs
within 90 days.'
What is a call back? Call back: "A second, or occasionally,
third time a model meets with prospective clients. Usually
callbacks are a strong indication a model is getting
serious consideration."
Success is often defined in a business context in terms
of profit. You could define success at Options Talent
in the context of profit. Did you make more money through
modeling work resulting from the photo(s) on the optionstalent.com
website than you paid to become a member?
Bill Ford of Ford Models, New York, said the following
about emodel:
- What they're doing isn't right. They're telling people
who have no chance of being models to put their pictures
up. I guarantee you, the money those people are paying
is more than most of them will ever make in their lifetime
modeling.
Someone should ask the president of Options Talent.com
what their new definition of success is, to see if it
is any different from emodel.com. The answer could be
really interesting.
There are interesting and disturbing comments about
call backs and work that someone got which are quoted
from a news
article about the company which was originally
known as emodel:
- Crystal Quantock, of Ypsilianti, Mich., said eModel
provided the newspaper with inaccurate information
about her.
-
- Quantock's printed bio says a company-sponsored convention "opened
a whole new world for Crystal. To her surprise, she
had numerous callbacks from agencies..."
-
- Quantock is then quoted as saying, "The convention
was a great thing. I was excited and amazed at the
fact that I've already been booked on jobs!"
-
- Quantock said she didn't go to the convention. "I
don't know what they're talking about," Quantock
said. "In fact, I'm considering stopping my monthly
payments to eModel. A monkey could have done the jobs
I've gotten."
So you might still get jobs a monkey could do.
