Privacy
Special effort is made to respect and ensure the privacy
of those who write to the site, making inquiries, sending
complaints, or stating opinions, because it is almost
always in the best interests of models who write to be
able to share their stories or ask important questions
anonymously.
Models and their parents write when they are considering
representation by a modeling agency or while they are
already under contract. Therefore their names are not
included on the site.
Models are at higher risk of cyberstalking than most
people. Therefore the names and email addresses of anyone
making inquiries or posting comments on the site are
omitted.
Privacy protection is waived for company leaders and
company representatives who write on behalf of their
company. Their names are already in the public (their
websites, BBB records, news reports, etc.).
Some modeling industry websites require registration,
include IP or ISP addresses in posted messages, or allow
model photos to be posted with messages. This site does
not require registration to send messages or read messages;
it does not include IP or ISP addresses, and it does
not post pictures.
Nobody will know who posted your message, when it was
posted, or from where. This level of privacy protection
has encouraged insiders who had left a company and even
others still working at a company to send significant
information.
Some people send email from their place of employment,
and the email address bears their company name, so they
obviously don't want their email address on the site,
and it will not be posted on this website.
Another reason why email addresses are not included
on the website is to keep those who post from receiving
spam through email harvesting spiders which troll search
engines. Another model forum website put it like this:
- This forum deliberately suppresses email addresses
in posts. That step became necessary when we found
that forums were being used by a variety of spammers
and other low-lifes to mine email addresses for their
own bad purposes.
The email addresses of anyone who writes are not sold
or given to anyone else. The exception to this is when
people send a complaint to the site and specifically
say they want to network with other consumers who are
victims of the same modeling scam.
There are no mailing lists. Those who write and receive
a reply to their message are unlikely to receive another
email unless they write again. There are no email updates
on specific companies. Check back to see if there are
new messages.
Third parties may be placing and reading cookies on
your browser, or using web beacons to collect information,
in the course of ads being served on this website. It
is recommended that you install a program such as AdAware,
Spybot Search and Destroy, or CCleaner so that unwanted
cookies from any site you visit can routinely be removed
from your system.
